Week 4: To the next dimension!

This week we continued work on our SHMUP games and working on 'juicing' the game by adding in satisying effects such as a srolling background and explosions on enemies being destryed.

You can play my SHMUP game here:

This is an Asset list, a tool used in games design commonly, it allows a game designer to easily tell other workers what sprite is what.

Later in the week, we started to create 3D models on a program called blender. First we created a lightsaber, then vitory podium, onto a set of stairs then a pyramid, finishing with a TIE fighter and an X-Wing. Pictures of some of the models are below.

I have done a small amount of research onto how to create a HUD bar and I can pick up / switch between items while still keeping the HUD on the camera when moving around. Now, I just need to work out how to use the items.

What happened?
We worked on fleshing out our game and create 3D models.

How did you feel?
I felt pretty comfortable creating 3D models

What were you thinking?
What can I 3D model on my own

How did things go?
I think things went pretty well

What might have helped?
If construct worked for the lighting effect

What might have hindered?
Not having Thom's Blender tutorials

What else could you have done?
I could've made Thor's hammer or finished the X-Wing

What have you learned?
How to model in blender

What can you change in the future?
The speed of which I work

If the situation arose again what would you do?
Finished the X-Wing
