Week 7: Let's Jam!
This week was the games jam, where we were tasked with creating our own games with the theme 'twist'. We could work with groups but i chose to work on my own, I decided to work on my owna s it would give me full creative control on what I can and can't do for my game.
The game I went with is called 'Switch Dance' and you can play it here: https://www.scirra.com/arcade/music-games/switch-dance-2-players-game-jam-37094
Solo Experiment:
How effective was your research in helping you complete your experiments?
I didn't do much research, I mainly used a trial an error method.
Break this down into the secondary research you did at the start along with any you used throughout.
How did your primary research help you with your experiments?
Not very well as I found I had a better experience using a trial and error method.
How do you feel you did?
I feel like my solo experiment was a great success as I managed to make it work within my games jam.
What have you learned?
How to make a menu that is controlled by the keyboard that could also work as a hotbar
Where would you apply this technique?
Hotbars and Menus
If you used yours in this week’s challenge how effective was it? How did it go? What steps would you need to take to perform it even better?
It was very effective as I managed to make multiple menus using the same technique, to make it perform better I would need to cap the instance variable so it wont go over the limit and end up being on menu number 99.
